| Tim van der Steene - Tim is a qualified architect with a passion for sailing which he started at the age of 9. He has sailed just about everything from small beach cats to 70 foot cruising cats. After his studies he cruised the Caribbean for 7 years managing private and charter catamarans. After returning to South Africa he settled in St Francis Bay and it was here that he decided that he wanted to combine his interests in yachts and architecture by starting a yacht building company. His sailing experience and design background fueled a quest for developing and building the ultimate high performance cruising catamarans.
Tim is a keen sportsman involved with most water sports such as wind surfing, hobie sailing, surfski paddling and diving. Other interests include cycling, photography and carpentry. | |  | Leon Scheepers - Leon Scheepers is the technical director and heads up the factory operations. He is an experienced Master Boat builder having ten years experience with two of the most distinguished boat yards on the continent or for that matter, the world. Power or sail, he has done it all over the last twenty five years - From heading up the powerboat production division of Robertson and Caine, the biggest catamaran builder in the Southern Hemisphere, to managing St Francis Marine, one of the oldest and most prestigious award winning catamaran sail boat builders in the world. Amassing enormous experience in disciplines ranging from hi-tech processing techniques to electronics, hydraulics, steering, engines, power integration and management, joinery work, deck-fittings, rigging, sails and all the other thousands of bits that make up a boat - he is perfectly positioned to head up the technical and production teams of TAG Yachts as they strive to become the best in the world. His motto is "anything is possible", and his passions are catamarans and quality. Leon enjoys sailing, spearfishing, kayaking, kloofing, surfing and is also an avid amateur photographer. |
